SAFE offers 3 flight modes: beginner, intermediate and expert. Beginner mode stops the plane from rolling (into the ground-- common when learning).
All modes offer a "panic button" you can press if you get disoriented which auto levels the aircraft from any attitude.

it doesn't know where trees are but it helps steer around and level it

easy to fly-- good for small spaces
we even fly them indoors during winter

but a few extra batteries are handy to have charged ready to go
is the s RTF with safe tech a upgrade of this plane we are looking at now?

RTF has all items to fly-- transmitter too-- bnf does not
so i should get the sport club S BNF w/ SAFE tech or the sport club S RTF with SAFE tec?

can this plane take a few hits to the ground?

yes-- as long as you don't land too fast straight onto the prop
they survive in a gymnasium and do surprisingly well unless you dive nose down
is the champ RTF a good plane aswell?

yes but it doesn't offer SAFE so it isn't as helpful in learning
